29 January 2009 - 4th day of Chinese New Year

This day was the 2nd day we stayed in Medan. It was 4th day of Chinese New Year and most people have to get back to work on this day as most company resume work on this day. But mummy still on leave and we were enjoying ourselves in Medan. On this day, we woke up earlier in the morning for breakfast and to say goodby to Ta Yi Poh, Gu Gu and Gu Chang. They were going back to Jakarta on this morning after breakfast. We had a great time together and we hope may meet up with all relatives again soon.

During lunch time, another Gu Gu left Medan to Jakarta as well. After lunch, there were not much people at home already. Therefore, mummy and grandma decided to go out for some shopping. Chee Chee and kakak Katya were followed as well. We went to buy some local famous cookies and kuih. We also went to Sun Plaza for some window shopping.

After shopping, Chee Chee was tiring and it was her nap time again. Chee Chee went back to have a rest. Mummy and grand auntie went to have a 2 hours relaxing body massage.

At night, all of us went out with great grandpa for dinner at a chinese restaurant. It was a very popular and great grandpa's favourite restaurant in Medan. It is famous on the jumping prawns and the pineapple dessert. It was a great dinner.

28 January 2009 - 3rd day of Chinese New Year

28 January 2009, this day was the 3rd day of Chinese New Year and also was suk suk's birthday. Happy Birthday to Suk Suk!!! This day, we have to go to Medan to visit great grandpa and other relatives. Suk suk and sen sen did not go with us as sen sen cannot take flight on her 3rd trimester of pregnancy.

On this day, we took Fire Fly to Medan at 10:25am. This was Chee Chee first time taking flight and utilised her passport. Mummy and daddy were very excited and nervous as they are unable to predict what will happen to Chee Chee on her first flight. Kakak Katya was following us to Medan as well to take care Chee Chee.

When Chee Chee went onboard, she looked excited and enjoyed her oversea trip. When the flight departed, Chee Chee was very excited looking at the runway and around the plane. It was a great experience for Chee Chee, daddy and mummy.

We reached Medan at 11:30am, When we checked out, we saw grandma was waiting for us at the baggage area. After collecting our luggages, we were heading to great grandpa's house. We were so happy to meet grand-aunties, grand-uncle, aunties and uncles.

After having lunch, we went to visit several great grand-uncles and aunties' house. It was fun to visit one house to another. Chee Chee was very excited to see so many relatives around in Medan. It was a great experience to celebrate Chinese New Year in Medan. After visiting all the relatives, we went back to great grandpa's house to have a rest. Grandma had prepared all the bath stuffs and cooking tools to cook Chee Chee's porridge. It was very comfortable to stay in great grandpa's house. Chee Chee had a great time in Medan.

After shower, Chee Chee was dressed nicely and joined all the grand-uncles, grand-aunties, great grandpa and everyone to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. It was very delicious and we had a great time together. After the dinner, mummy and daddy went out with relatives and Chee Chee stayed at home with grandma and grand-aunties.

27 January 2009 - 2nd day of Chinese New Year

27 January 2009 - This day was the 2nd day of Chinese New Year. On this day, mummy went back to Poh Poh's house for reunion dinner. Besides mummy, san yi yi also went back to Poh Poh's house for reunion as well. As on the 1st day of Chinese New Year, it was too crowded as Poh Poh' s house, so san yi yi did not give Chee Chee an ang pao. Therefore, san yi chang and san yi yi gave Chee Chee an ang pao this day. After the brunch at Poh Poh's house, we had a rest at Poh Poh's house and waiting for the arraival of ta yi yi and Zi Ning.

Ta yi yi and Zi Ning arrived at Penang at 5.00pm. Si yi yi, mummy, gong gong and Chee Chee went to the airport to fetch our super VIP. We were so excited to welcome the arrival of ta yi yi and Zi Ning for the reunion dinner. When we reached home, everyone of us was rushing to the kitchen to help Poh Poh to prepare the food for reunion dinner. All of us was very happy and excited. We recalled a lot of old memories while preparing the steamboat. We started the reunion dinner at 7pm sharp when everyone was ready. It was a great and delicious reunion dinner. All of us had a precious time gather together.

26 January 2009 - 1st day of Chinese New Year

Gong Xi Fa Chai !!! 恭喜发财!!!Happy Chinese New Year to everyone!!! This day was the 1st day of Chinese New Year which we were looking forward for long long time ago. All of us woke up early on this day and changed to the new red clothes. It was a big day for everyone and it was Chee Chee's 2nd time to celebrate Chinese New Year. As usual, we had a mee suan soup for breakfast. After breakfast, we departed to Pek Yi Tong temple for praying. It was our culture to go to Pek Yi Tong on the 1st day of Chinese New Year for blessing. After praying, we went back home to wait for all grand-uncles and grand-anuties to visit us. It was a precious opportunity for everyone to gather and exchanging ang pao. We had a great time chating and eating cookies.

In the afternoon, all of us went back to Poh Poh's house. Poh Poh had cooked a lot of foods for all of us. We met a lot of relatives on this day. Besides, on this day, Chee Chee had collected a lot of ang paos from grand-uncles, grand-aunties, uncles and aunties. However, this day was a tiring day for everyone. After visiting Poh Poh, we went to grand-uncle Wong's house as well. We met grand-uncle Wong and his family on this day and we had a great chat at his house. Chee Chee also had a great time playing with grand-uncle Wong's grand-daugthers.

After visiting grand-uncle Wong, we went back to Poh Poh's house to meet all the relatives at home. All the relatives came to Poh Poh's house on this day and we were having fun chatting the whole day.

After a happening and tiring day, we went back our house to have some rest. At night, we went to Gurney Drive for dinner. As most of the shops and restaurants were closed on this day, we only can go to those international restaurants to have our dinner. Therefore, we decided to have our dinner at Dome cafe. It was a great and lovely Chinese New Year night. Gong Xi Fa Chai to everyone!!!

24 & 25 January 2009 - Weekend & Chinese New Year Eve

Hurray, hurray... Chinese New Year is just around the corner. All of us was very excited and looking forward for the arrival of this big occassion. On this Saturday, all of us was busy with the last minute shopping. On early Saturday morning, we woke up very early and went to market. It was crowded and packed as everyone was buying foods for Chinese New Year and reunion dinner. In the afternoon, we stayed at home and trying to decorate Poh Poh's house. It was a busy and tiring day.

After a busy Saturday, everything was ready and done. On Chinese New Year eve, we were quite free and just waiting for the reunion lunch. On Sunday morning, as we were too excited, all of us woke up early in the morning. Therefore, we decided to go to Island Plaza for dim sum breakfast with grandpa, grandma, daddy, mummy, suk suk, sen sen, gong gong, poh poh, si yi yi and siao yi yi. Everyone of us was in Chinese New Year mood.

After the dim sum breakfast, all of us was heading home to have a rest before the reunion lunch. Chee Chee had a nap for an hour. At 1pm, everyone was woke up and waited at the dining area for the reunion lunch warmly prepared by god-grandma and her sister. It was a delicious and full of varieties' meal. It was impossible to finish the meal as god-grandma had prepared too much dishes. Thank you so much to god-grandma for the special meal.

After the delicious and heavy meal, all of us decided to have some exercise to help on digestion. Grandma suggested all of us go to Gurney for some window shopping.

At night, all of us was dressed with the new clothes and we went to CitiBayview Hotel for the reunion steamboat dinner. Grandma had made the reservation for the steamboat buffet on this night. It was so convenient and all of us may just dressed nicely for the dinner.

The choices of the food are not much, but it was great to have everyone together for the dinner. That is the purpose of the reunion dinner. Chee Chee was so excited on this night because they were so many kids at the restaurant. She was busy walking here and there around the hotel. We finished the dinner by 9pm.

After the dinner, we went back and changed a more comfortable clothes and we got ourselves ready to go to poh poh's house for the praying ceremony. As usual, we have the practice to visit several temples on the new year eve. It was the most fun part of Chinese New Year.

Before we started the praying tour, we will prepare some junk foods and drink to eat in the car. We visited about 5 temples but we did not went in to pray except for daddy because it was too crowded and smooky. So daddy represented all of us for the praying. The rest of the time, we were sitting in the car enjoying the food and listened to radio.

After 2 hours rounding Penang Island, we reached home at 12am sharp to welcome Chinese New Year. Grandpa, grandma, suk suk and sen sen were praying at home. We wished each other good health and all the best. It was a great night. Chee Chee would like to wish everyone HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR and GONG XI FA CHAI!!!
